The Académie des Beaux-Arts supports artistic creation in all its forms

It organises, awards and funds many prizes and competitions throughout the year.

An institution supporting artistic creation

Fifty-seven academy members bring their experience and enthusiasm for creation to all eight artistic sections. Painters, sculptors, engravers, architects, composers, free members*, filmmakers and photographers demonstrate their complementarity in a resolutely multidisciplinary environment.

* The free member section brings together artists unrepresented in the other sections and distinguished figures from the world of arts and culture.

Prizes and competitions are organised, awarded and funded throughout the year.

Every year, the academy bestows prizes totalling several hundred thousand euros on artists of all disciplines and ages.

A few examples :
  • of contests organised by the academy: the Grand Prize for Architecture, the Pierre David-Weill Drawing Prize, the Académie des Beaux-Arts/Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Photography Prize, the Mario Avati Printmaking Award etc.
  • of prizes awarded by the academy: the Simone and Cino del Duca Foundation Prizes, the Pierre Cardin Prizes, the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Choral Singing and many prizes awarded for works of art.

Every year, the Académie des Beaux-Arts also allocates a significant budget to individual grants for struggling artists.

Throughout the year, the academy showcases works by award-winners in its exhibition space at 27 quai de Conti, Paris.

Many other actions in support of artists

Through partnerships, residencies and backing of artistic projects, the academy is involved in a wide range of activities benefiting artists.
