Cité internationale des arts

Since its creation in 1965, the Cité internationale des arts has hosted artists in residence from all over the world. For many years, the Académie des beaux-arts has actively supported the Cité internationale des arts in its mission to welcome and accompany artists in residence.

As a founding member and partner of the Cité internationale des arts, the Académie des beaux-arts wished to contribute to its program of hosting artists in residence. The Académie's commitment contributes to the protection of the artists in residence and the renovation of the two sites of the Cité internationale des arts.

In partnership, the Académie des beaux-arts and the Cité Internationale des arts created 3 programs to host artists in residence:

- Visual arts
- Choreography
- Architecture and Landscape

These programs are supported in a number of ways, including the appointment of a 'sponsor' from among the artist members of the Académie des beaux-arts for the duration of the residency; regular studio visits and exchanges with the Académie's artists and correspondents; the participation of the residents in academic meetings; participation in exhibitions and events organised by the Cité internationale des arts (in particular the Open Studios); participation in visits to exhibitions and professional seminars and meetings between residents. Artists benefit from immersion in the community of 325 artists in residence, of all nationalities, practices and generations.
